NYSASN announces 2008 School Nurse of the Year!
It is with great pleasure the New York State Association of School Nurses announces Mary Kanarvogel as our 2008 School Nurse of the Year. Mary is a school nurse for a K-12 student population at Shelter Island, New York. Mary has been a school nurse for 9 years. Along with a B.S.N., sh e is also an EMT, a member of the school’s drug task force, shared decision – making team and Communities that Care Program.
The superintendent, Sharon Clifford, of Shelter Island Union Free School district writes “Mary is hands down the most effective school nurse that I have ever worked with. She has touched the lives of every student and adult in the Shelter Island School in a positive way.”
